Claeren Risicobeheersers

Corporate Story

Claeren Risicobeheersers, located in ’s Hertogenbosch, is an independent advisory bureau that provides services relating to all kinds of financial risks. We wrote a corporate story for Claeren which served as the basis for their renewed, stronger positioning in the market.

The company has been doing business for more than 90 years, and focuses mainly on SMEs – small and medium-sized enterprises – in North Brabant. But Claeren also has many major corporate clients, as well as individual clients. The challenge was to find a common denominator in Claeren’s approach to these widely divergent target groups.

To find Claeren’s core story, we went back in time to the beginnings of ‘insurance’ in the Golden Age of the Netherlands. This was when small independent shipping companies ran many risks during their voyages to Baltic seaports to trade in grain. They were able to take out ‘sea insurance’, against damage by storms at sea, for instance. These small shipowners could be called the first ‘SMEs’ – an important target group for Claeren Risicobeheersers.
